Chad Bowes, a cricketer from New Zealand, made history by smashing List-A records with his incredible performance. He achieved the fastest century in List-A cricket and went on to score his maiden List-A double hundred in a Ford Trophy match for Canterbury Kings against Otago Volts at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The 32-year-old reached the double century in just 103 balls, breaking the previous records held by Travis Head and N Jagadeesan.
Prior to Bowes, Head and Jagadeesan had held the record for the fastest List-A double century off 114 balls each. Bowes’ aggressive knock included 27 fours and seven sixes, helping Canterbury Kings post a massive total of 343 runs. His innings came to an end after scoring 205 runs, but he had already set the stage for a dominant victory for his team.
With several New Zealand players opting out of central contracts, Bowes, who last played for the Black Caps in September last year against Bangladesh, could be in contention for white-ball selection with his outstanding performance in the Ford Trophy.
