The Miss World 2025 pageant is scheduled to be held in India, specifically in Telangana, with events planned for May of this year. The Telangana government is committing a significant investment of ₹200 crore towards this event, with the objective of transforming the beauty contest into a major tourism attraction.
The 72nd edition of the Miss World beauty pageant is set to take place in Hyderabad from May 7 to May 31.
As the Telangana government proposes an allocation of ₹200 crore for the Miss World 2025 event, the opposition party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has criticized the ruling Congress government, questioning their financial judgments. They point out the irony of spending ₹200 crore on a beauty pageant while the state is grappling with a substantial revenue shortfall of ₹71,000 crore.
A BRS leader condemned the “illogical reasoning” behind allocating ₹200 crore for Miss World 2025 amid allegations surrounding a ₹46 crore Formula-E race scandal.
“It seems that spending ₹46 crore on the Formula-E race in Hyderabad was criticized and could lead to legal issues. Yet, using ₹200 crore of public funds for a beauty contest like Miss World is deemed acceptable! What is this contradictory logic? Can you clarify this, @RahulGandhiJi?” questioned KT Rama Rao.
