Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asserted that the state government will adopt a firm approach to combat illegal mining and ensure the proper supply of sand and other minerals. He emphasized that enforcing strict measures against illegal mining is essential for boosting revenue.
During a review meeting on Saturday, officials from the Mining Department updated the Chief Minister on initiatives aimed at curbing illegal sand transport and enhancing revenue generation.
He instructed the Telangana Mining Development Corporation (TDMDC) to provide sand for all construction projects led by various government departments, including Irrigation, Roads and Buildings, and Panchayat Raj. Additionally, he urged the corporation to fulfill the needs of different construction companies, stating, “You must be able to supply sand at fair prices so that consumers are not compelled to turn to illegal sources.”
Recognizing the high demand for sand in Hyderabad and its surroundings, he recommended establishing sand stock points on three sides of the city. This initiative would offer consumers a convenient option for purchasing sand for smaller projects.
