Mysore Sales International (MSIL), a public sector undertaking under the Government of Karnataka, has unveiled its plans to venture into the tourism sector, with a focus on providing budget-friendly travel options for middle- and lower-middle-income families.
The new Tours and Travels Division will curate travel packages that feature prominent religious sites such as Kashi, Ayodhya, Puri, and Adi Kailasa, in addition to historical landmarks. Moreover, these offerings will extend to international travel destinations including Dubai, Singapore, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, and various European countries.
During the launch event, MB Patil, the Minister for Large and Medium Industries, highlighted that MSIL’s travel packages are designed to balance affordability with quality, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and reliable experience for travelers.
For solo travelers, particularly senior citizens, MSIL is introducing door-to-door services, which include transportation from their homes. Each journey will be supported by an MSIL attendant, who will provide ongoing care and assistance throughout the trip.
To further enhance accessibility, MSIL has launched an EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) scheme paired with a Lucky Dip Draw, allowing customers to make payments in installments. Those who win the draw will have their remaining EMIs waived, making travel even more feasible.
The company anticipates a significant rise in its annual transactions, projecting an increase from the current ₹250 crore to ₹5,000 crore as part of its diversification strategy.
In addition to this venture, MSIL is working on upgrading its liquor outlets, with 63 of the planned 200 already revamped, resulting in a threefold increase in revenue. Furthermore, MSIL is set to branch out into the home paint manufacturing business through Mysore Paints & Varnish.
