The Maharashtra State Budget for 2025-26 is set to be unveiled today, bringing a host of new schemes, plans, and initiatives from the state’s government. Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, will present the budget in the assembly. This marks a significant moment for Pawar, as he will become the second Finance Minister in the state’s history to present the most budgets—totaling 11—following Sheshrao Wankhede, who presented 13 budgets. Ajit Pawar’s 11 budgets will place him ahead of Jayant Patil and Sushilkumar Shinde, who held the position 10 and 9 times, respectively. This budget is particularly notable as it will be the inaugural budget for the newly-formed Mahayuti government and Pawar’s 11th term as Finance Minister.
