The first recorded case of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) has been identified in a two-month-old infant who traveled from the Dungarpur region of Rajasthan to Gujarat for medical care. According to an official announcement from the state government, the infant has tested positive for the virus but is currently in stable condition and receiving appropriate treatment.
In response to the situation, state health minister Rushikesh Patel indicated that the health system in Gujarat is being adjusted to prepare for any potential outbreak of HMPV. This virus, which was first identified in 2001, can exhibit symptoms similar to those of the common cold and flu. To further assist the public, the government has released guidelines outlining recommended precautions and actions to take when dealing with this virus.
