A flight operated by Air India Express that was headed to Bahrain had to return shortly after taking off from Cochin International Airport on Tuesday due to suspected tyre issues, as reported by a spokesperson for Cochin Airport. The technical problem was detected just moments after the aircraft took off, prompting the flight crew to receive directions to return as a precautionary measure for the safety of the passengers.
Airport officials were preparing for a safe landing for the aircraft. Further information regarding the incident is still awaited.
In a separate incident over the weekend, the helpline at Mumbai’s International Airport received two consecutive calls from a woman expressing concerns about a “major problem” and requesting that a Mumbai-Delhi flight be canceled. The local Sahar Police were informed, and an FIR was filed. Investigations traced the allegedly hoax calls to a location in Andheri East; however, the caller was not located.
