Earlier this year, there was a buzz about the possibility of a sequel to the hit 2008 film Ghajini, starring Aamir Khan. The director of the original film, AR Murugadoss, has hinted at discussions for a sequel during promotions for his upcoming movie Sikandar. While details are scarce, Murugadoss mentioned that they have some ideas and will sit down to discuss them once they are free from their current projects.
Rumors suggest that Ghajini 2 could be made in both Tamil and Hindi, with Suriya reprising his role in the Tamil version. Producer Allu Aravind, whose production house Geetha Arts was behind the first Ghajini, has also expressed interest in creating a sequel. He fondly recalled the success of the original film, which was the first Bollywood movie to cross Rs 100 crore at the box office.
Ghajini was well-loved for its intriguing storyline about a businessman seeking revenge while dealing with short-term memory loss. The emotional love story between Aamir Khan and Asin’s characters added to its appeal. Murugadoss confirmed that scripting for Ghajini 2 is in progress, emphasizing that they aim to create an authentic continuation of the original rather than a mere money-making venture.
Fans are eagerly awaiting more updates on Ghajini 2, with both Aamir Khan and Suriya reportedly waiting for the final scripts before committing to the project. As they anticipate the return of their favorite characters, Murugadoss is preparing for the release of his film Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, on March 30, 2025.
