Reflecting New York is a collection of harmoniously paired reflections, showcasing both what lies directly before the artist and what exists behind him. Falke adeptly captures the architecture of buildings, trees, and bridges, making subtle manual adjustments to the images the mirror reflects. “I soon realized that the mirror was a participant in the image, rather than just a passive reflection,” explains Falke. “Initially, I tried to avoid showing my hand, but it eventually became a significant element of the series. It told the story: A handheld mirror, my mirror, presents striking visuals in well-known locations.”
