On Wednesday, LinkedIn, a professional networking platform, revealed the appointment of Deepak Agarwal as its new Chief AI Officer (CAIO).
Agarwal brings with him 24 years of experience in engineering and artificial intelligence, having previously occupied key leadership roles at Pinterest and Yahoo. This marks his second time leading AI initiatives at LinkedIn, where he previously served as the VP of AI for eight years.
“Deepak has been instrumental in driving AI innovations at scale during his tenure at LinkedIn, laying the groundwork for much of the company’s current AI initiatives,” the company stated.
“I am excited to announce that I am rejoining LinkedIn as the Chief AI Officer,” Agarwal stated in a post on the platform.
He emphasized that LinkedIn “has a rich and commendable legacy of leveraging AI” to customize user experiences, facilitating professional growth and access to opportunities.
The AI capabilities at LinkedIn have also enhanced business operations and nurtured significant professional connections. Describing his return to LinkedIn as an “honor,” Agarwal expressed his commitment to advocating for ethical and human-centered innovations.
“As CAIO, my goal is to explore the limits of technological possibilities, ensuring that our AI advancements are not only cutting-edge and seminal but also ethical, inclusive, human-centered, and empathetic. I derive great satisfaction from creating technology that leaves a meaningful impact on society,” he remarked.
“Together, we will drive innovation and develop solutions that enhance the value we provide to every member and organization on LinkedIn. Here’s to new opportunities, thrilling challenges, and groundbreaking innovations!”
Meanwhile, LinkedIn rolled out a new AI feature last week designed to assist job seekers in finding suitable employment and help recruiters identify ideal candidates.
This latest feature will enable job seekers to better understand how their skills and experiences align with available job openings. The introduction of this feature aligns with a recent report highlighting the growing challenges in job searching and recruiting on the professional networking platform.
