Swiggy Instamart has announced its expansion to 100 cities across India, with the addition of 32 new locations in 2025, including recent launches in Raipur, Siliguri, Jodhpur, and Thanjavur. This move comes in response to the increasing demand for quick commerce services in areas beyond metropolitan cities, as one in four new users are now coming from tier 2 and 3 cities.
The shares of Swiggy Limited were trading at ₹3354.50, up by ₹1.30 or 0.37 per cent on the NSE at 2.05 pm today.
To support its expansion, Swiggy is introducing “megapods” – larger dark stores spanning 10,000 to 12,000 square feet that can accommodate up to 50,000 SKUs, tripling the product range of standard dark stores. These facilities will stock a mix of national and local brands to cater to regional preferences.
Amitesh Jha, CEO of Swiggy Instamart, highlighted the shift in consumer behavior towards convenience-led retail in smaller markets, driving the adoption of quick commerce services.
The company has seen strong initial performance in new territories, with Patna reaching over 1,000 daily orders in four days and Raipur achieving 300 orders on its launch day.
Launched in 2020, Swiggy Instamart offers delivery of over 30,000 products within 10-15 minutes and is part of Swiggy’s larger ecosystem, which includes food delivery partnerships with 2.4 lakh restaurants across approximately 700 cities.
