Tata Motors has unveiled the Sierra ICE concept SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. This modern interpretation of the famous Sierra nameplate features a design tailored for internal combustion engines (ICE), while retaining the iconic styling elements of the original Sierra.
The SUV is poised to compete in the compact SUV market against well-known models such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos. Tata Motors is expected to launch the Sierra ICE later this year, although a specific timeline has not been confirmed.
Design: A Tribute to the Original Sierra
- The Sierra ICE concept shares similarities with the previously revealed Sierra E but distinguishes itself with a design specific to the ICE variant.
- The front features an upright stance, a pronounced LED light bar, and sleek headlights.
- The grille and front bumper showcase a black and silver finish, while the signature rectangular side windows, flush door handles, and dual-tone alloy wheels pay homage to the original model.
- The rear design maintains a vertical profile, complemented by a sleek LED light strip and a sturdy rear bumper.
Interior: A Modern and Tech-Savvy Cabin
- The interior of the Sierra ICE concept showcases a dual-tone color scheme and a layout influenced by other Tata models such as the Harrier and Safari.
- Notable features include a dual-screen setup with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver.
- Additional comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, powered and ventilated front seats, connected car technologies, and both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
- Ambient lighting further elevates the cabin’s atmosphere.
Safety Features: Cutting-Edge Technology for Secure Driving
The Sierra ICE is equipped with a variety of advanced safety technologies, including six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, and a driver attention warning system. It also features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to enhance safety and provide a smoother driving experience.
Powertrain: Options for Turbo Petrol and Diesel Engines
- The Sierra ICE concept is expected to offer two powertrain options:
- A 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine delivering 170 PS and 280 Nm of torque
- A 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 170 PS and 350 Nm, similar to the engines used in the Tata Harrier and Safari.
- Potential transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
