The Digital Ethics Centre at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands has been named a WHO Collaborating Centre for artificial intelligence (AI) in health governance. This designation acknowledges the centre’s extensive experience in responsible innovation and integrating ethical values into digital technology design. AI has the potential to transform healthcare, saving lives and enhancing well-being, but effective governance, ethical standards, and evidence-based policies are essential for maximizing its benefits, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The collaboration aims to promote collaboration among various stakeholders dedicated to ensuring the responsible use of AI in healthcare. The WHO emphasises the importance of robust governance and ethical safeguards in harnessing the full potential of AI for health.
