Among the laggards were shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd., Infosys Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., State Bank of India, and Nestle India Ltd.
The BSE Sensex closed marginally lower in a volatile session. The BSE Sensex ended 0.04 per cent or 32.11 points lower at 76,138.97, while the NSE Nifty slipped 0.06 per cent or 13.85 points to close at 23,031.40.
Top Gainers
Sun Pharma led the advances, climbing 3.12 per cent to ₹1,746.50. Tata Steel shares showed strong momentum, rising 2.99 per cent to ₹136.20.
Bajaj Finserv gained 2.97 per cent to close at ₹1,840.60, while Bajaj Finance added 2.27 per cent to finish at ₹8,405.65. Kotak Mahindra Bank completed the top five with a 1.46 per cent gain, ending at ₹1,971.60.
Top Losers
Adani Ports was the biggest loser, dropping 1.77 per cent to ₹1,109.45. Infosys declined 1.10 per cent to ₹1,843.25.
TCS fell 1.04 per cent to ₹3,909.10, while State Bank of India slipped 0.81 per cent to ₹727.30. Nestle India closed 0.71 per cent lower at ₹2,177.40.
The day’s trading saw IT stocks dragging the market lower while pharma and metal stocks provided some support. Investors remained cautious ahead of the upcoming Trump-Modi meeting.
