The United States sent warm wishes to India on its Republic Day, highlighting the significance of this occasion as a testament to the world’s largest democracy.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a statement, expressed that the relationship between the United States and India continues to flourish, asserting that it will shape the landscape of the 21st century.
“On behalf of the United States, I extend my congratulations to the people of India as they celebrate their Republic Day. In recognizing the adoption of the Constitution, we acknowledge its lasting importance as the bedrock of the world’s largest democracy,” Rubio stated.
Rubio also underscored the US’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with India, emphasizing the critical role of the Quad alliance in promoting a “free, open, and prosperous” Indo-Pacific region. “The partnership between the US and India is ascending to new heights and is poised to become the defining relationship of this century. The enduring friendship between our two nations lays the groundwork for our cooperation and drives us to explore the immense possibilities of our economic ties,” he added.
Looking ahead, he expressed eagerness to strengthen joint efforts in space exploration and coordination within the Quad framework to foster a prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
On this 76th Republic Day, India is set to showcase its rich cultural diversity, unity, development, and military strength at Kartavya Path, with President Droupadi Murmu leading the celebrations. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the Chief Guest at this grand event.
This week, Marco Rubio marked his first day as Secretary of State by convening the Foreign Ministers of Australia, India, and Japan for a pivotal meeting of the Quad alliance. This gathering underscored the alliance’s dedication to enhancing economic opportunities and maintaining peace and security in the Indo-Pacific. During this meeting, Rubio, alongside Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his counterparts from Japan and Australia, reaffirmed their collective commitment to strengthening the Quad alliance.
In a subsequent meeting in Washington, Rubio and Jaishankar discussed various topics, focusing on opportunities to further deepen the US-India relationship, regional issues, and economic collaboration. Rubio also conveyed the desire of the Trump Administration to work alongside India to advance economic partnerships and address concerns regarding irregular migration.
