In a recent update, Eric Garcetti, the U.S. Ambassador to India, discussed plans for establishing a consulate in Bengaluru, with expectations for it to become operational by January 2025. This statement was made during an event hosted by the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC).
Garcetti highlighted that the United States is currently the only major nation without a consulate in Bengaluru, underscoring the importance of this development. He stated, “We are making significant progress on this front. I hope to share positive news soon. While we already have the Foreign Commercial Service in Bengaluru, we are dedicated to our commitment to open the consulate as soon as possible, aiming for January.”
Karnataka’s IT/BT Minister, Priyank Kharge, commented on this development via a post on social media platform X, saying, “This will greatly benefit Karnataka and enhance the state’s economic capabilities. It will also strengthen the relationship between India and the U.S., promoting closer diplomatic, technological, and economic partnerships.”
