BJP leader Puneet Tyagi, who was serving as the party’s city unit chief in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, recently decided to step down from his position amid allegations of sexual exploitation leveled against him by a Mumbai-based actress. The actress, claiming to have appeared in more than 250 regional films, took to social media to accuse Tyagi of engaging in exploitative behavior and causing her mental distress.
In her video statement, the actress revealed, “The BJP leader had formed a close bond with my son by showering him with gifts, which eventually extended to sending me bouquets and presents. At that time, I had been residing in Mumbai with my son following my separation from my husband. The warmth shown by the BJP leader towards my son and me led me to believe that I had found a supportive figure in my life. We shared an intimate relationship for a brief period until he started to distance himself.”
While the Saharanpur Senior Superintendent of Police, Rohit Singh Sajwan, confirmed that no formal police complaint has been lodged against Tyagi as of yet, the BJP leadership has refrained from making any official statements regarding the matter or its course of action.
The actress also expressed disappointment in her attempts to seek help by stating, “I reached out to the UP chief minister, the Prime Minister, and other top BJP officials, but my complaints fell on deaf ears.”
Despite vehemently denying the allegations, Puneet Tyagi chose to tender his resignation to BJP Uttar Pradesh chief, Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh. In his resignation letter, Tyagi asserted, “Although I firmly deny the accusations made against me, I am stepping down from my role to protect the reputation of our party. I have faith that the truth will be unveiled soon, and I am willing to abide by any decision made by the party leadership. I maintain my innocence throughout.”
