The Supreme Court dismissed a petition on Monday that claimed COVID-19 vaccines caused adverse effects such as blood clotting. The bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, refused to entertain the plea, stating that it was merely an attempt to create a sensation.
The court also questioned the implications if individuals had not received the vaccine. The top court remarked, “File a class action suit! What is the use of this? Please also understand what would be the side effect if you did not take the vaccine. We do not want to rake this up, this is just to create a sensation,” expressing skepticism about the purpose of the petition.
Furthermore, the court inquired whether the petitioner’s lawyer had taken the vaccine himself. The lawyer confirmed that he had, and when asked, mentioned that he had not experienced any side effects.
The petition was filed by Priya Mishra and others, challenging the alleged side effects of COVID vaccines.
